Summer Night Beats

Summer is most definitely upon us and the music needs to reflect the summery feeling boiling up inside our souls! So with that in mind we gotta get the beats in place, we''ve got some amazing tunes for you from the likes of Chaka Khan, Passion Pit and Ellie Goulding.

First up, Chaka Khan's 'I Feel For You' with a twist. Calvertron's reputation for churning out bangers is getting more and more widely spread, with tour dates reaching Ibiza and the Czech Repblic. His remix totally wonks up the classic Chaka Khan tune and throws you into a summer feel. be sure to check out his myspace for more info on how to find a gig near you!

Chaka Khan - I Feel For You (Calvertron Remix)

So we've all heard the Passion Pit track Sleepyhead and we've recently blogged the Neo Tokyo remix a few weeks ago. Thanks to the boys of Noise Porn they've intoduced us to the Jazzsteppa Remix. A brilliant take on th e origional with a fragmented melody remaniscent of a summer breeze. Belter.

Passion Pit - Sleepyhead (JazZstePpa Remix)

Finaly we've got a birllian wonky fiddgety summer tune from Ellie Goulding with Jakwob on the remix. The England based Jakwob has recently had plays on Radio 1's Annie Mac and Jaymo & Andy George shows. The BBC sure think his tunes are top notch and we're with them. Get a listen into this and then hit the myspace and show some love!

What The Hell?!

WOW! the Lovely DeDeDee have just sent a cheeky little EP sampler for us to enjoy. Enjoy i shall, many times over. 'DeDeDee - What The Hell?! EP' (System Recordings) is gonna be dropping into the Beatport world on the 4th June and 16th June on iTunes and everywhere else.
With sounds similar to that of Daft Punk and Justice this EP is sure to impress, definitely looking forward to getting a copy here at HMU.

The EP consists of the three tracks 'What The Hell', 'Tell Me' and 'Swagga Jacka'. With my personal fav 'Tell Me' rocking the middle of the sampler due to the cheeky Phantom II similarities.

DeDeDee have a couple of gigs lined up in the UK to go along with the EP launch so if you're in the area get yourself down.
For more information hit up the myspace, and look out for the EP on Beatport June 4th.

Nadisko!!!

We often talk about bangers on Hook Me Up, but when I heard these at the weekend I was blown away. Nadisko have kindly sent us two of their tracks for the readers of HMU! Nadisko are a Sydney based duo who, in their own words, like to "keep it hard". Indeed they do! Their music falls in somewhere along with Proxy and Boys Noize with influences from the likes of Felix Cartal.

Let us know what you think of these guys because we certainly have high hopes for them! Check out their myspace page at www.myspace.com/nadisko for more tracks and info on the duo!

Do You Want to Come to the Pance Party?

If you are looking for your electronic fix of bleepy tech formed synth notes with deep throbbing basslines then California based Pance Party is exactly where it can be found.
The New EP 'A Million Puppies' is full to the brim with funky electronic brilliance, this EP really delivers. The three producers that create this colorful sound have equally colorful personalities, with Andy, Eric and Ben, creating multi-touch midi controllers, climbing Kilimanjaro and cycling across the United States respectively.

So we've chosen to highlight a few of the hottest tracks from the EP, have a listen and then head straight over to their myspace and show some love!

"Big big big.... BIG MOUTH!" shouts the sample as the distortion from the bass flutters over your face. A very D.I.M. / Daft Punk sounding track with very funky aspects from the get go and vocoders singing the melody.

Pance Party - Big Mouth 320

The start of this song along with the title teases a sense of relaxation and joy in the word before tearing it all down with possibly the heaviest bass on the EP. However, the little vocal samples as well as the bouncy rhythm sectio keeps it sounding funky as a chicken with a boom box.

Pance Party - A Million Puppies 320

Excellent boys noize esque distorted guitar sounding techno, this tune lays it all on the table inviting you to jump up and rave. Big synthy build-ups into rocking loops with even a bit of my favorite sound ever... the cowbell. BOOM!

Joe and Will Ask?

Joe and Will Ask? are taking the uk by storm. Although currently having a little brea kfrom DJing - study come first - good boys - they're allready lined up for a summer between the uk and ibiza and mallorca. The boys joined forces in 2007 and quickly hopped into the some of londons biggest nights. Meanwhile their productions have been equally well received. Firmly connected to the dance floor they fire out remixes for the band/ indie scene, as easily as diehard clubbers. With comparisons to SoulWax, Chemical Brothers, DIM and Popof they certainly are making waves in the dance world.
We've got a couple of tracks as well as their fantastic La Roux remix.

First up, Hell Hawk. This track is totally techno. nice meaty kick drum with the distorted sounds of the synth rocking over the top to create a minimal heat pounding throb that builds you right up. Banging.

Joe And Will Ask? - Hell Hawk 320

Yellowstone again takes on the gise of a minimal techno tune, however there is soooo much to it. This tune is the one for me i think. Deep bass kick, fluttering highs with a progressive melody builds it into one hell of a body rocking tune. It's so simle yet so damn nice, you like?

La Roux - Quicksand (Joe And Will Ask remix) 192

Whiskey and Marshmallow

Its the end of yet another week - going so fast lately! Anyway here's a little selection of what's been grabbing my attention since last weekend. Kicking things off is Cold Blank with 'Marshmallow Man'. I am absolutely loving Cold Blank's tunes lately and this is just another banger!

Marshmallow Man - Cold Blank

Next its B. Rich with his banger with some quality bass and some of that Whiskey Pete stylin'!

Ain't Here To Party ft. Whiskey Pete - B. Rich

Finally here's a tune that I first heard in the classic film Trainspotting! Some classic 90s club anthemness with some huge bass chucked in for good measure!

Think About The Way - Gigi Barocco vs. Ice Mc

Laidback Tuesday

Its been a pretty laidback day - really not that much happening! So I thought I would continue the theme on Hook Me Up with some laidback tunes. Firstly it Laidback Luke (see what iv done there?!). He's back putting his touch to Daft Punk's 'Around The World'. Along with that its Fred Falke's very chilled remix of Hot Chip and John Roman's take on Peep Thong.

Around The World (Laidback Luke Remix) - Daft Punk

Colours (Fred Falke Remix) - Hot Chip

Peep Thong (John Roman Remix) - His Majesty Andre

Mash-Up!

The Hump Day Project are just firing out remixes left right and center at the moment so i thought that we'd try and cover their flair for remixing with this Daft Punk Mash Up. Also Boys Noize and Frankmusik meet and it excites me. Further more Surkin is sounding a little wonky with this Bobmo remix. Check it out and get yourself excited for the weekend!

Jaymo Vs. Andy George

So Jaymo and Andy George have been tearing it up across the UK from their base at Moda (Lincoln), across numerous dance floors and even peoples homes and cars via the airwaves of BBC Radio 1. Their performances have won them an army of fans, most notably in the form of super-producer Kissy Sell Out - who nominated them as his favourite new DJs as part of the BBC Introducing Tour 2008.

So we've grabbed a tune from each of the boys to put them head to head in a battle to the death! Well not really but you can still hear their shiz.

The Futureheads - I Wouldnt Be Like This (Andy George Remix)

Esser - Work It Out (Jaymo Remix)
